With Cube, ZEUGMA DANSE moves into the public space, creating a new habitat for percussive dance in proximity to the audience.
In this unique performance, four dancer-percussionists, propelled by driving rhythms, must adapt to a constantly changing environment. Beginning as expansive, the space gradually shrinks until it is compacted and restrained. The mounting pressure transforms the physical vocabulary of the performers and intensifies the emotional charge of the audience.
Strength and resilience are at the heart of this vivacious work that celebrates the capacity of humankind to adapt in the face of adversity.
While Cube can be presented as a stand-alone piece, it is also the first chapter of the company’s trilogy of site-adaptive works.
